Hi,

I am searching for some kind of more or less complete review article on
the connection of strings and quantum gravity, how string theory
incorporates quantum gravity, what predictions and results there are
and so on. Is such a work available till now?

Hi,

First I haven't come across the kind of article you request, but I can
suggest some alternatives. Have you considered a string theory
textbook, for example, Barton Zweibach's A First Course in String
Theory? The graviton appears in chapter 13 when considering the
quantised closed string. I haven't read through Green, Schwarz and
Witten, or Polchinski, as thoroughly as Zweibach (although maybe one
day I will get round to them...)

Perhaps this surprise appearance of gravity is not what you are looking
for? In that case maybe you should consider supergravity, of which
there are many review articles, see for example Van Nieuwenhuizen in
hep-th/0408137 , or West's book Introduction to Supersymmetry and
Supergravity. Supergravity is the combination of general relativity
with a number of extra fields in the attempt to build a consistent
quantum theory, and as such may seem a more logical place to start when
looking for quantum gravity. To get to strings from there you will then
have to do some work convincing yourself that an M-theory exists, and
its dualities form a path from supergravity to the various string
theories.

Best wishes, and apologies if this is of no help,
Paul

There is

S. Carlip
Quantum Gravity: a Progress Report
http://arxiv.org/abs/gr-qc/0108040

even though it is mostly about approaches other than string theory.
